Technology: Composite LPG Cylinders

06/11/2016

Indian government is committed to make clean fuel such as LPG available to everyone. Moving forward, increasing purchasing power, improving of literacy levels and government's efforts to shift people to cleaner fuel like LPG (from traditional fuel like wood and kerosene) augment well for growth of LPG consumption in India.

Moreover, composite cylinders could also very well match the Indian government's initiative of announcing 2016 as The Year of LPG Consumers. Composite LPG cylinders are glass fiber based solutions that help replace steel offering a smarter solution that is lighter in weight, safer and ergonomically benefitting.

SMART FEATURES:

  • Passes all the burst and pressure tests and stringent regulatory fire standards
  • Typically 50 percent lighter than steel and superior lightweight alternatives to traditional metal cylinders (ranging from 2.3kg/5lbs to 6.4kg/14lbs when empty)
  • Unique Translucency feature making for easy visibility of propane gas levels
  • Attractive and ergonomic design which can be custom-colored and branded

TYPICAL SEGMENTS FOR USE:

  • Domestic LPG cylinders
  • Industrial gas tubes
  • Consumer goods

TYPICAL MANUFACTURING PROCESS:

Typically manufactured using automated filament winding processes. These new cylinders are composed of a seamless anti-permeation thermoplastic liner which is fully wrapped with epoxy resin impregnated with high performance epoxy compatible glass fiber roving; this enables high tensile strength, light weighting and UV resistance to ensure optimum performance.

TYPICAL KEY VARIANTS AND TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:

  • 6 different sizes from 5 to 33 lit.
  • Recyclable and stackable
  • Fully certified to IS- 11119-3/ EN-12245
